8 Questions with Nicole Doucette • FC United DA U17 Team

Because of this, many of our athletes end up getting recruited to play soccer in college.

Nicole Doucette recently committed to Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Nicole grew up in Lake Bluff, IL and will be graduating from Lake Forest High School in 2020. She has been with the club since 2017 and currently plays for our FC United U17 Development Academy. “I am choosing to play college soccer at Northwestern University because the soccer program and academics are at a very high level and will help me have a better future.”
How did Nicole get recruited? Well, we've asked her all the questions you want to know! Nicole’s passion for soccer is clear and she wants to share her story hoping to inspire all of you!
FCUDA - What challenges are you expecting to face as a collegiate soccer player?
ND - The competition will be much harder and I will have to balance my soccer and academics to achieve the high standards at Northwestern University.
FCUDA - How did FCU prepare you to become a successful student athlete?
ND - John Soltani (Academy Director) was a big part of my recruiting process. He helped me a lot with Northwestern and how to communicate and handle the process. It was all new to me when I arrived at FC United.
FCUDA - What is your favorite restaurant and what do you get there?
ND - BluFish because I love sushi and fried rice.
FCUDA - Who is your biggest inspiration?
ND - My dad is my biggest inspiration because he played collegiate soccer for Loyola and he has helped me throughout my soccer career. I look up to him because all that he’s taught me and done for me.
FCUDA - Who is your favorite Sports Team and why?
ND - I follow Manchester United. My father and I watch it together since we both really love the team.
FCUDA - Do you have any pregame rituals or superstitions before a game?
ND - I put my right everything before my left. For example, my right sock, shoe and shin guards are always put on before the left. Also, I always wear two socks when I play.
FCUDA - What's your fondest FCU memory?
ND - Being on the team bus rides and just having fun together as a team.
FCUDA - What piece of advice would you give to current and future FCU players that want to play soccer in college?
ND – My advice for future FCU players would be not to stress about college and just focus on becoming a better soccer player and better person overall because after you do that - colleges will see your potential.
